It’s A Girl

The Birth

Well, this is my first blog in three weeks…life has taken on a very hectic turn. So let’s update you on what has been happening these past few weeks.

For a start, we had a baby girl whom we have named Maya. We went to the hospital on Mar 18th and she was born on March 20th, about an hour before the Iraq war began. What happened in between were agonizingly long waits for a delivery room to become available and for the potocin (is that the correct spelling??) to kick in. We had all but given up home of a speedy birth at 10:15pm March 19th. Erika had been on the potocin since the early afternoon and she was hardly having any contractions. So we decided she would be unhooked from all the doo-hickies and thing-a-me-jigs so she could get a decent night’s sleep and start again the next day. But after going to the bathroom for a call of nature, her waters broke and yada yada yada..we had all of 8.5 pounds of a beautiful baby girl.

The Aftermath

Maya sleeps well but she seems to have developed the art of projectile vomiting a few times a day. Apparently it is quite common, so we are not alarmed. Atara, my eldest, seems to be adapting well to the new baby after a few days of temper tantrums.

The Apartment

Not even a week had passed after the birth that we were running around trying to get approval for a home loan. Yada yada yada..we own a new, two story apartment. Now the trick is making the monthly repayments.

The Work

All of this time, my load at work has not been getting any lighter. So I find myself knee deep in it. But I can’t complain that my life hasn’t been exciting!
