I just received this response from Professor Wilkie:
Thank you for your further comments. My hatred is for the barbarity of war, not for the Israelis in particular.
I don’t get applications from the countries you mention, I would also have grave misgivings about them although, as I have been taught by this episode, academic freedom means turning a blind eye to any such misgivings.
I will finish by saying that if you met me, I don’t think you would find me the monster that you envisage.
