According to JTA, Gerard Araud, the French ambassador to Israel, denied Israeli media reports that he had described Ariel Sharon as a thug and referred to Israel as a paranoid country.
The ambassador “formally denies all the quotes attributed to him by an Israeli journalist with regard to the paranoid State of Israel and its loutish prime minister”, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Herve Ladsous said in a statement Sunday.
