Anti-Semitism From Syria

While the Syrian government claim that they want peace with Israel, they continue propogating the vilest anti-Semitism in their official daily paper, as these items from Memri illustrate:

THE SYRIAN OFFICIAL DAILY TESHREEN SAID THAT THE ISRAELI PLAN TO EVACUATE THE GAZA STRIP SETTLEMENTS ‘IS A 100% COMMERCIAL SHYLOCK DEAL, AND THE STRANGE PART IS THAT IT IS PAID IN ADVANCE, BASED ON ONLY TALK, AND MAY NOT MATERIALIZE.’

‘THE MIGHTY APPARATUS OF THE WESTERN MEDIA, CONTROLLED BY ZIONISM, SUCCEEDED IN STEALING THE [ARAB-PALESTINIAN] RIGHT FROM ITS OWNERS AND DRESSED IT IN UGLY TERRORISM GARB, IN AN UNPRECEDENTED FORGERY.’ (TESHREEN, SYRIA, 2/11/04)

Notice how they state that the media is “controlled by Zionism.” Surely, this supports the contention that Zionism is being used as a euphemism for “Jews”, and that anti-Zionism is in many cases a cloaked manifestation of anti-Semitism.
