Driving Me Crazy

It seems as though I am not the only one who has noticed that some people here in Israel drive like raving lunatics.

Although, on very rare occasions, someone driving like a numbskull might actually save lives.

A criminal assassination attempt using a car bomb packed with dozens of kilograms of explosives was recently averted, details released for publication this morning (Wednesday) revealed.

The car was designed to detonate at a wedding party of a top underworld figure. The attack was averted only because the driver of the car, who was on his way to the wedding hall, was involved in a car accident.

Update: Can you imagine what would have happened if the car bomb had gone off during the car accident?….”But officer, I could have sworn that I only hit the guy’s bumper…”

The Israeli driving scares me much more than terrorists threats. Every time I come to Israel I am shocked all over again at how insane and agitated the drivers are!

The bus drivers are the worst

Heh … I remember driving in Israel. I think it inspired “Grand Theft Auto” and other driving games (well, the driving part, not the carjacking and mass murdering part). Actually, I think that Brazilian drivers are worse. Traffic signals are just friendly suggestions and sidewalks are for EVERYONE.

As for what would have happened had the explosives gone off, I think that suddenly Ralpf Nader would have been Israel’s headache and not the U.S.’s.
