Madonna is no more. Say hello to Esther.
Madonna may have undergone a few image shifts during her tumultuous career – but now she wants to be called Esther. The Material Girl was inspired to take on a new name by her study of Jewish mysticism known as Kabbalah.

“I was named after my mother. My mother died when she was very young, of cancer, and I wanted to attach myself to another name,” she said.
“This is in no way a negation of who my mother is. I wanted to attach myself to the energy of a different name.”
I can understand the name change. Esther has “guaranteed to send Shmuley Boteach into convulsions” written all over it.

Oh this is soooo stupid
I’ve always thought that Madonna was the modern version of assyrian pagan fertility goddess Ishtar. I guess this makes it official.

Sorry for the double; the script didn’t reload correctly the page in my browser and I kind of forgot I had sent it already and not just previewed.
Off topic (kind of) has anyone else noticed a red string tied around David Beckhams wrist? The Kabbalah bandwagon must be getting pretty crowded these days.
Red string was given by a Chinese monk, stupid!
