A Life Lost

“You didn’t know anything of the Israeli Palestinian conflict. You didn’t know anything about war or peace. You were pure, but we have neighbors, little boy, who are animals, murders that kill little children age 4. We will not forget, we will not forgive. He doesn’t even know that you exist.”

So said Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal at the funeral of four year old Afik Zahavi, who was murdered yesterday when PLO Arab terrorists fired rockets at Sderot.

Afik will never know what it is like to attend school.

He will never know what it is like to form strong bonds and friendships.

He will never know what it is like to play sports.

He will never know what it is like to have a crush on a girl.

He will never know what it is like to get married.

He will never know what it is like to have children of his own someday.

Instead, little Afik will always remain the four-year old child whose life was cut brutally short by people who rejoice in his murder. A people whose aim in life is to spread as much death and destruction as possible.

“I love you, my dear boy.I will see you everywhere.. I waited 15 years for this child… It wasn’t his time to die, I would have gone instead of him.”

So said Afik’s father, Itzik Ohayon, as he buried his small child, something no parent should ever have to do. And while Afik was being buried, his mother struggled for her life at Be’er Sheva’s Soroka hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the attack.

May G-d bless Afik and Mordechai Yosepov, the other victim of the attack, as well as their families.

May He avenge their deaths and the deaths of all of those innocent people murdered by those who are trying to make a mockery of Him.

Well said. I only wish the people making the decisions could have read this!

You should post the picture of them shooting the rockets off.

You should add the picture of them shooting the rockets off. They actually filmed themselves doing it and the news played it.

No parent should ever have to bury his own child. My heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

I would also like to say that same you I condemn the killing of this poor 4 year old, we also need to remember that palestenian children are dying daily, and palestenian mothers are watching their children take bullets in the head all the time. These mothers too should not have to go through this. Terrorism is an enemy to all. It will only end if this pointless clash of civilizations ends. leave palestenians alone, leave the iraqis alone, leave teh israelis alone, let teh bosnians live, and the kurds have their free nation. enough political bullshit. we have had enough, on both sides

Are you comparing his death to that of a Palestinian child throwing stones at an Israeli or a Palestinian who is inadvertantly killed as Israel is combating with Palestinian terrorists? Does Israel intentionally kill civilians? Does Israel randomly lob rockets into Palestinian civilian areas?

You desecrate the holy memory of Afik with your mindless lets-love-each-other blabber and equating him with the retched Palestinian casualties!

    I concur

I said as much on meryl yourish’s blog:

I know the Israeli army mistakenly kills innocent people, sometimes takes the lives of young innocent children. There is no blood that is more precious on one side or the other, no mother’s tears are sadder than the other, and no futures lost that is more painful. An innocent Israeli death in as such is no more tragic than an innocent Palestinian one and vice versa.

However there is one big difference.

    Intent.

The Israeli army, were it capable of turning back time and redirecting its missiles in such a way that it would avoid innocent bystanders and still get the terrorists, they would without a moment of hesitation.

Were Palestinian terrorists to have a chance of turning back time and redirect their missiles, they would not only kill this child again, but would aim so that the whole nursery would rise in flames.

Of course an Israeli life is not more important that a Palestinian life. The only difference is the intention.

As long as this remains true, I will remain a proud Friend of Israel.
