Macho Men

The Village People are back with a new line-up (photo courtesy of AP).

Ok, maybe not. But I want to know what Colin Powell is doing dressed as a native American Indian.

Update: For the record, here is the caption:

In this photo released by the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, left, poses for pictures with Native-American chief George Akeen from Arena, Oklahoma, a member of a delegation from the International Interreligious Federation for World Peace during a meeting at Arafat’s headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah, Monday, Sept. 13, 2004. Man, at right is an unidentified imam from the delegation. (AP Photo/Palestinian Authority/Hussein Hussein)

What an insult to all decent American Indians! I would like to let Israelis know that the majority of American Indians, including myself, don’t support terrorist Arafat and the Plo Arabs.

    Malia,

I actually thought of you after I posted this, concerned that perhaps you may have been offended by my post. But I am glad to see that you took it the way it was intended – a jab at Afatrat and his supporters.

Thanks for the great links! I really would love to post about this relationship between American Indians and Israelis/Jews (with your help!)

The plo arabs will round up any ethnic or religious group (including Jews ie-Neturei Carta) and exploit them while trying to liken the Israel/arab conflict with whatever group will listen. In the case of the Native Americans, the plo arabs liken the occupation of Indian land by the American-White-Man and persecution and killing of Native Americans to that of the “Evil Israeli Occupation” in so-called, palestine. While it would not be fair to gereralize, as a White-Jewish-girl growing up on various Indian reservations… I experienced hatred and prejudice upclose and personal for my own obvious Jewish/Israel affiliations.

    Joe A. Rivera, Esq. writes:

Yesterday, I returned from Oklahoma where I met with Mr. George Akeen, who is an ordained Methodist Minister, Member of the World Council of Churches, and a Roadman of the Native American Chruch of Oklahoma. Mr. Akeen went to Jerusalem in September of 2004 for an interdenominational religious conference where he met and was well received by Israeli government officals

During our conversation, Mr. Akeen showed me this AP story. He also showed me many other photos of other Israeli dignitaries, including the Mayor of Jerusalem, who had asked to pose with him. He also had pictures of more than one rabbi who posed with him. According to Mr. Akeen, the Israelis were very respectful to him and he had wonderful things to say about them, including the fact that when he found he had forgotten to bring his pipe, the Israelis were able to find an authentic Indian calumet pipe In Jerusalem, for his use in blessing them. Such is the respect of some Zionists for this man.

It is true that Mr. Akeen agreed to meet with Yasser Arafat but not for the reasons which you readers assume. Mr. Akeen takes no sides in any political debate. He is a simple man of peace and goodwill

The childish and negative comments that I have read about Mr. Akeen, on this website, is an insult to his integrity and good will. One should know all the facts before making assumptions and jumping to conclusions.

    Shame on all of you!
