Understatement of the Day

Palestinian election officials have given voting rights to a jailed militant accused of ordering the killing of an Israeli minister, in a move Israel called a sign that Palestinian democracy was badly flawed. *

And here is another sign:

Gunmen belonging to the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah, Monday shot and killed two Palestinians suspected of collaboration with Israel.

Let’s face it. With Yasser Afatrat pulling the strings, “Palestinian democracy” is an oxymoron.

* Ironically, this “militant” is in jail because he murdered Rehavam Zeevi, an elected minister of Israel, and thus a symbol of democracy.

Well, here in NZ (the backwater I’m temporarily residing in), the government is handing out not voting rights but – cash to unfortunate inmates ‘mistreated by the prison system’. One such felon, a member of the Mongrel Mob, jailed for a brutal slaying of a rival gang member is now up for his second payout for ‘unjust’ treatment inside. I wonder if Zeevi’s killer might be eligible too? The stupidity is ongoing, relentless: knows no borders.

I’m surprised that those two words don’t just fly off the screen like two magnets with their matching poles pushed together.
