I may really appreciate the creations of reality television honcho Mark Burnett..but I don’t like the guy.
In an interview in The New York Times a few months ago he said: “I love the Middle East a lot. I had the greatest nights ever, sitting on the high Atlas Mountains, with the Berber tribes, looking down at the Sahara. I am fortunate to be friendly with the royal family of Jordan, and they arranged for me to spend some private time at Petra, which is unbelievably spiritual.”Is there any chance that one of the coming seasons will be in our deserts?“No. The whole region is not conducive. Certainly not Israel with the settlements and the problems with the government now. All I can do is provide a bit of escapism for this region, and I am glad of that.”
The problems in the Middle East stem from the settlements and Israeli government?
How ironic that someone who spends most of his time trying to portray reality is actually so divorced from it.
