Bargouthi seems to have the greatest credibilty among Palestinians, and thus has the greatest hope of uniting all Palestinians in a common cause.
Although he has claimed, quite rightly, that Palestinians have a right to pursue a policy of armed resistance, he has also indicated that his preference lies on the side of peaceful/passive resistance.
Given this, might it not be in Israels interest to release him when he wins the election.

Well, I guess anyone who lived in the geographical region commonly known as Palestine prior to its occupation by white european Jews in 1948 (with the active support of the the UN of the day — the white european nations that won the war) — and their descendents. The last hurrah of white european colonialism, remember?

You are wrong on all counts. Jews were called “Palestinians” before anyone else. Jews have always lived in Israel. The Arabs only called started themselves “Palestinians” in the late 1960′s to steal Jewish land. There has never been a “Palestinian” country, language, or culture.
You claim that Israel is made up of “White European Jews” but I’ve seen many Israeli Jews who are dark-skinned and whose ancestors have always lived in Israel or the surrounding areas. The Egyptian terrorist Arafat was darker-skinned than Ariel Sharon.
I do know about White European colonism since I’m American Indian and Israel is definately not a colonist state. Arabs are the ones occupying Jewish land not the other way around.

Instead of making comments like that, how about you refute what Malia is saying? I bet you can’t, since she is absolutely correct.
And ask yourself this, Keith..why weren’t you defending “palestinian rights” before 1967, and complaining about Jordan’s occupation of the “West Bank.” Probably the same reason why the PLO Arabs themselves weren’t preoccupied with this “occupation.”
Then again, you are making reference to 1948, so we see where you stand regarding Israel’s existence.

Which part of my comment is “strange nonsense?” Put up or shut up! You are right David most pro-Plo Arabs just spout off Arab Islamofacist propaganda without any evidence. They also equate blowing up innocent women and children with legitimate armed resistance. What a sick deranged individual.
If Ken really wanted to help poor minorities then he should go to Latin America or Tibet where people don’t use terrorism to achieve their goals. What is happenning in Tibet is the defintion of a real occupation. It’s about you got educated about the real history of the world. Your ignorance is pathetic.
The vast majority of the population of the region we call palestine have been Arabs for many hundreds of years. To suggest that they have stolen Jewish land is about as deranged as the allegation that the holocaust never happened, and I treat it with the same level of scorn.
You can natter about the label Palestinian all you want. The territory was still the home of Arabs for hundreds of years, until the ethnic cleansing by white european Jews began.

Call it terrorism if you like (and I personally prefer a Ghandi style approach), when your land is under a brutal occupation for years — whatever works. And the IDF kills about 3 times the number of Arabs that “terrorist” kill of Israelis so I guess that makes the IDF terrorism 3 times as bad.

Even you had to amdit that that “Palestinians” don’t exist. But as usual the rest of your ranting is wrong. The Arabs are the ones occupying Jewish land. There has been a Jewish population in Israel for thousands of years while the Arabs were nomadic travelers. Many visitors to Israel in the late 1880′s and early 1900′s wrote that they was a very small population in Israel during that time. Most Arabs immigrated to Israel after it was created.
Where’s the proof that there was “ethnic cleansing” of the Arabs by the Jews? There is evidence that the Arabs attacked and murdered Jews for land. Many Jews are dark-skinned not “European White.”
You are a perfect example of double-speak. You admire Ghandi but support blowing up innocent women and children?! You are a sick despicable human being. Saying that Jews are “brutally occupying land” is like saying that American Indians, like myself, are occupying land in America. We are both indigenous people living in our respective homelands.
Most of the Plo Arabs who have been killed are terrorists. The IDF doesn’t target civilians while the terrorists target not just Jewish civilians but their own people who they use as human shields. The Plo Arabs like hamas and islmaic jihad are the real terrorists. The IDF is defending their people and land agianst ruthless blood-thirsty barbarians. To compare them to Islamofacist terrorists proves you are morally impaired.
You need to be educated on the real history of Israel like I was. The truth will set you free!
