I know there was supposed to be a reason but it seems to escape me at the moment. Oh, I know because the British Mandate set aside for Israel a tiny piece of land and they gave 80% of then-Palestine to what became a new country called Jordan (originally Trans-Jordan) that was, being 80% of Palestine, full of Palestinians. But, despite being a new country comprised of Palestinians, Jordan decided it didn't want to be a Palestinian country. Ahh that was the problem with my memory: it is not that the Palestinians deserve a country but rather their insistence that they deserve _two_ countries.

Ummm….Rats!
