Gere and Friend

Richard Gere is currently visiting Israel with a friend.
No, not that friend. Rather, I am speaking of Ben “I am not a Jew but I play one on tv” Kingsley.
Their itinerary includes meeting with Israeli and PA officials, going to Ramallah to screen the movie Ghandi, and launching a campaign in the PA aimed at educating toward non-violence. Like that’s going to work.
Meanwhile, Gere has been photographed receiving a mystery gift from PA leader Mahmoud Abbas, who still couldn’t manage a smile.
Why, he’s been given the horrible red binder!

Ok, so Gere is a bit naive but seems to have a good heart
Ben Kingsley has played Jews in countless movies (e.g. Schindlers List, Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story, and Bugsy). Yet, as far as I am aware, he is not a Jew.
It’s obvious that Abbas has bestowed upon Gere honorary membership in the Ramallah Bnei Akiva chapter.
What is kind-hearted about granted legitimacy to a holocaust denier who runs one of the world’s most vile terrorist organiations?
Kind hearted and thick headed – a bad combo. Gere is just a pawn of the PAL’s western PR image.

While I’m at it, from the shape and size of it, Abbas might be giving Gere the Rachel Corrie Balestinian Solidarity Award.
