Boogie

Has anyone else (besides Hat) noticed how hilarious the Ynetnews headlines are? Take this one from today for example:

No, it is not about this guy:

Rather, it is about Israeli Army Chief Moshe Yaalon’s visit to Jordan. Apparently, Yaalon is called booger boogie. Can anyone enlighten me as to the origins of this nickname? My guesses are:

  • So people can make him a scapegoat (“you can blame it on the boogie”)

  • He is pretty good on the dance floor

  • To instill fear in the PLO Arabs (“better watch out for the Boogie man”)
  •

Update: On the topic of booger: would you believe remake?

Bogey may come from Avigdor, which was one of Moshe Rabbenu’s nicknames.
