I used to wonder from the beginning of the War Process, why it is that Rabin brought in a psychopathic maniac to rule of the Paleos. I always said, if you want to make peace, fine, make it with the legitimately elected mayors of the West Bank and Gaza. But don't involve that animal.There are two reasons why they did this.1. Rabin regarded all the paleos as animals from beginning to end. Never mind the BS the peaceniks say. The truth is, they have less respect for those people then we do. That is why they felt that Arafish would be a good leader, because being the worst animal, he would keep the rest "in line".2. Amir Taheri had a brilliant article, where he states that originally the sane way was what was tried. The Likud administration prior to Rabin me with the Doctors, Lawyers, Mayors, etc from the territories, but they got spooked because they saw that these people were reasonable and human. And that collided with their world view.I think both reasons have an element of truth. But we will have to pay for this monumental screw up forever.-ron How sad.
