Terror Attack in Israel

A PLO Arab suicide bomber has murdered more Jews, this time in the Israeli town of Netanya. Israeli television are reporting 2 dead, and 30 injured…so far.

I was in Jerusalem today, having taken the day off work. While we have not had a suicide bombing in a while, I was constantly looking out for people wearing bulky coats, and looking suspicious. You just can’t help it. The thought crossed my mind that I was probably being paranoid. I had no idea that there would actually be a terror attack here in Israel today – just in a different city.

Updates

7:25PM: After watching reports of the bombing on the Israeli TV channels, I scouted the English language news channels – Sky News, BBC, CNN and Fox News. All of them were dealing with the British terror attacks. Not one of them mentioned the latest atrocity here in Israel. Maybe I shouldn’t read any symbolism into it..

7:55PM: Israeli television is reporting that the bomber was an 18-year-old high school student and member of Islamic Jihad.

9:25PM: In case you do not realize what kind of evil we are dealing with here:

Arik Twik, who was standing about 20 meters (approximately 70 feet) away from the mall’s entrance said he saw a suspicious person, who a mall security guard also spotted.

“The terrorist apparently realized he’d been identified, stood in the middle of the crosswalk right next to four young girls, French tourists apparently, and then blew up,” he said. “It was a big mess.”

It’s an alert on the BBC news homepage…

There was another terrorist bomber at a settlement. The jihadi was the only one killed.

I also noticed that the foreign networks didn’t cover the Netanya attack. I guess we need to understand that Europeans do not make a connection between the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and their experience with terrorist attacks perpetrated by Al Qaeda.
