Quote of the Day

“His whole behaviour is so shocking…It’s inappropriate and vulgar and absolutely unacceptable to use your private life to sell anything commercially, but I think it’s kind of a sickness…When you talk about a great actor, you’re not talking about Tom Cruise.”
- Screen legend Lauren Bacall, talking about fellow actor Tom Cruise.
Now don’t hold back, Lauren.

Have to disagree with just about everything in this quotation.
Firstly, it might be inappropriate to use your private life to sell things but it’s pretty much the standard practice in Hollywood so Cruise isn’t exactly standing out from the crowd. Every star who starts seeing someone new or taking a public stance on something whilst coincidentally releasing a new movie or show is guilty of this and it’s a daily affair in that world.
Secondly, Tom Cruise is a raving lunatic who’s rude and obnoxious but to argue that he can’t act is disingenuous to say the least.
Perhaps Ms. Bacall was biased in her view of TC given her “fabulous relationship both on screen and off” with Nicole Kidman.
