    Great podcast.

    Just fyi:

    - Harry Belafonte’s song “Day O” is about the hardship of the people who load bananas onto boats in the Caribbean. The unusual grammar is supposed to reflect the language of the workers. Belafonte’s arrangement is based on a traditional Trinidadian folk song.

    - I met one of Harry Belafonte’s granddaughters, who happens to be a lovely Jewish, religious African-American. Apparently one of Belafonte’s son’s “hazar bitshuva” and his whole family is religious.
