What Dr Wildberger did was to give a geometrical edge to the very analitical trigonometry, a thing that sometimes will be a cool great idea and sometimes just may not quite work.

Actually “spread” and “quadrance” are geometrical concepts that are kind of often used at least for planimetry, just not under those specialized names. I am a mathematician and I know what I'm talking about. It's actually pretty pathetic to be looking for ways around something as simple and elementary as trigonometry. It's also important to note that the trigonometry most people learn is only a reflection of much deeper mathematical concepts which are much more important than sines and cosines. I had a look at the book by Wildberger and it seems more complicated than the usual stuff. According to that book you need to master "the five main rules" and you're done. I assure you that you don't need to memorize a single rule to understand trigonometry. All you need is a little common sense and all the formulas are simple consequences of logical reasoning. That's all.Take carep.

Look Dave, trigonometry has always been little more than “elementary arithmetic”.
