Quote of the Day

December 14, 2005 | Aussie Dave | Comments

“I’m not anti-Bush; I‚Äôm anti-Bush behavior. In other words, I’m against cheating, greed, cruelty, racism, imperialism, religious fundamentalism, treason, and the seemingly limitless capacity for hypocrisy shown by Bush and his administration.”

- Lord of the Rings actor Viggo Mortensen.

It seems to me like the kind of religious fundamentalism that offends Viggo is that exhibited by Christians who take the Bible seriously. I would hope that he is more offended by that exhibited by Islamists who explode in crowded places and fly planes into buildings.

[By the way, I'm not anti-Hollywood celebrities; I'm anti-Hollywood celebrity behavior. In other words, I'm against cheating (on spouses), greed, ignorance, hypocrisy, and the seemingly limitless capacity for thinking that just because you make a lot of money acting, people actually care what your opinion is on serious global issues].

Update: I stand corrected. Apparently, Viggo also writes, photographs, paints, and fills his water mug with rubber insects. Which makes him more than qualified to comment on matters of great import.
