Admiring Israel

Interesting perspective on Prime Minister Sharon’s situation from a Bahraini studying in New Zealand (hat tip: Mahmood).

Admiring Israel

So ba3d chabdee Sharon is dying after whatever hit his brain maskeen.. waaa3ala offaaadeee. I am not writing this to express my joy but my admiration to Israel as a government, a country and a committee.

The man is dying but he wasn’t rushed to France or the US to receive treatment. Rather, he’s in Jerusalem being treated in house by Israeli doctors . Israel is only 50 years old but has enough belief in its medical capabilities. It also has enough faith in its democracy to believe that nobody in its political circle will attempt to speed up Sharoon’s death and take over him.

When I was a little bit less babyish than now, I used to be irritated when an article refers to Israel as the only democracy in the Middle East. Over the years, I got to realize that most of what irritates us, as Arabs, are facts that we refuse to see!
