Cartoon Hilarity Ensues

In reaction to some rather unflattering cartoons of their prophet Mohammed, Muslims in Europe have decided to fight fire with fire. That is, besides exercising their democratic right to burn down the odd embassy.

After the lectures that Arabs and Muslims received from Europeans on Freedom of Speech and on Tolerance. And after that many European newspapers republished the Danish cartoons on the Prophet Mohammed. AEL decided to enter the cartoon business and to use our right to artistic expression.

Just like the newspapers in Europe claim that they only want to defend the freedom of speech and do not desire to stigmatise Muslims,we also do stress that our cartoons are not meant as an offence to anybody and ought not to be taken as a statement against any group, community or historical fact.

If it is the time to break Taboos and cross all the red lines, we certainly do not want to stay behind.

Needless to say, these “revenge” cartoons are anti-Semitic. Here’s some examples:

And these seem to be the milder of the bunch.

One of the AEL cartoons reportedly displayed an image of Anne Frank in bed with Hitler.

Just a coincidence, to be sure. It’s not like Arab and Muslim newspapers print such cartoons on a daily basis. Their gripe with us does not stem from deeply rooted anti-Semitism (inculcated from a young age) but rather anti-Zionism…right?

But not to worry. I don’t anticipate that there will be a wave of Jewish violence in response to these. We’ll just go about doing what we do best when confronted with such images: exercising our democratic right to complain.
