First, the Israeli army confirmed that it was an undercover operation. One thing with the IDF is that they are not trying to hide when they kills Palestinians. They seems rather to take pride in it and issues pressreleases quicker than the news is spread on the wires.

To tha actual event. When there is an undercover raid it always follows the same pattern. An unmarked van with a small group of soldiers in civilian clothes follows the car of the targets. When they reach an area which is easy to cover and not too many people in, they go to action. They stops and opens fire on the target until nothing moves. By now the force with uniformed soldiers, who is waiting a few blocks away, moves in to secure the area and to clean up the mess.

When i arrived on the spot about 5 minutes after the shooting the soldiers had already closed the scene and begun their work. This would have been impossible if the where not verry close. How i know? Because the nearest army base is about 15 minutes drive away from the spot.

For people outside this captions can sound strange. But for us working on the ground here its logical. We know the geography in the area and also the modus operandi of the Israeli army. They are actually verry predictable in cases like this.

Unless Magnus has left out the part of how he found out who killed the “militants”, I must say I find it rather terrifying that he would accept it as read that the Jews/Israelis did it.

Such conclusions are very dangerous.

As for the use of the word “militant”, I find it extremely insulting that a terrorist who targets Jews is always a “militant”, as if killing Jewish civilians is morally the same as attacking an enemy military (which is what “militants” usually do). I assume Iraqis feel similarly about the press referring as “insurgents” to foreigners who blow up mosques in Iraq.

These people are _terrorists_, perhaps “alleged” terrorists. The ethnicity or nationality of the victim doesn’t make a difference.

The media should finally learn that!

I find it frightening that a journalist or photographer would jump to such conclusions.

He believes he was an eyewitness to an event that he himself says happened before he arrived.

And he can clearly identify Israeli undercover agents (did they look Jewish?).

I wonder, and I would like to know from Magnus if he reads this, how many stories about Israel have been written like that?

When I read that Israeli soldiers did X, is X always an event that happened before the journalist arrived to be an “eyewitness” to X, or do journalists actually report what they really did see every now and then? When journalists speak of undercover Israeli army units, do they always report as fact what Israel’s enemies tell them, or is that the case only in this incident and few others?

I must say, I have _very little_ trust in main stream journalism. And things like that confirm my distrust.

Assuming that everything in Magnus’ report which is not clearly false is true, I could just as well conclude that one Arab gang attacked another Arab gang and that no Israelis were involved. Couldn’t I?

Apart from the eyewitness thing and the claim that the identity of the men as Israeli undercover troops was actually known (as opposed to claimed by Israel’s enemy), how much else is false in the report?
