Head in the (Monkey) Clouds Award: UN Secretary General Kofi Annan

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan doubts the findings of an IDF inquiry into the Gaza beach shelling.

 

“The Israeli claim that the beach blast was caused by an explosive charge at the site sounds strange to me. I don’t believe it is plausible that the Palestinians planted charges in a place where civilians often spend their time,” Annan told the London-based Al-Hayat daily.

Perish the thought that terrorists could be capable of recklessly endangering the lives of innocent people.

 

Tongue in (Arse) Cheek award: Israeli PM Ehud Olmert 

Olmert told Chirac, “I am honored to be your guest in France. As the prime minister who represents the Jewish people it is a special honor to be a guest of one of the greatest fighters against anti-Semitism in the world.

 

“You were, Mr. President, one of the first to outline, among other things, the Quartet’s three preconditions on the Palestinians before entering negotiations with Israel.

Obviously Didn’t Learn His Lesson award: Palestinian Foreign Minister Mahmoud “Wart” Zahar

Senior officials said Wednesday afternoon that Palestinian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar entered the Gaza Strip with a suitcase stuffed with cash.
