has anyone noticed a pattern here? last time I checked hezbollah EXISTS because of an israeli invasion into lebanon. i think i've covered my stances regarding this current situation in other posts, but to sum it all up. I support Israel and it's existence, but I don't think their current operation, and the civilian casualties it has caused is the right solution to the problem.

Just as the IDF's first occupation of lebanon birthed Hezbollah, this current operation is likely to do more of the same. So far the ratio of civilians to terrorists killed has been about 30 to 1 (300+ civilians and 10+ confirmed terrorists). I can guess where the support of the families of those killed is going to lie, and its clearly not with Israel.

Israel obviously needs to change its gameplan for dealing with terrorist attacks, because the current one is not working. They will never be able to kill every member of every organization that wants their demise, its simply impossible. Trying to do so with an air campaign that causes immense collateral damage benefits nobody. Terrorists get their civilian deaths to use as recruitment posters, and Israel gains no additional security.

Anyone who reads this website, feel free to give me any evidence that Israel will be better off after this campaign than before.

Hey, y'all just keep on keepin' on. There will be no peace as long as Ebola and Hummus exist. Wipe them out to the last terrorist.
You folks condemning Israel's self-defense, look around a little bit. Israel has made concessions to the terrorists, and everytime they have, the terrorists continued to terrorize. Time to wipe them out.

I'm with Israel all the way, but 2,200 of their rockets is closer to 20% than 2%. If it were only 2%, they would have 110,000 rockets available. I doubt that figure.
God keep Lebanese and Israelis safe. Destroy Hezbollah though.

Hans,

I applaud your opposition to Hezbollah, and I appreciate your support for Israel's cause, if not its means. My concern is this. If you oppose military action that results in civilian deaths, you guarantee victory for terrorist groups that will use civilian shields. Hans, I respect your opinions and there is no good answer to this terrible dilemma.

Brent

Listen very carefully. I am against Hezbollah and I don't mind Israel targetting Hezbollah, but I do not believe Hezbollah positioned itself on the international airport, bridges, roads and powerplants all over Lebanon. I don't even believe it's justified to bomb offices of Hezbollah's political wing if you have to bomb a whole appartmentbuilding in a densely populated city such as Beirut. I realize Israel doesn't want to kill Lebanese people, but they don't mind if they do either. They bomb everything. Civilian casualties are way higher than in Israel and 99% of these casualties have nothing to do with Hezbollah.

You bring in everybody on this; Syria, Lebanon, Chavez (not in Argentinia, but Venezuala..). I am aware of the oppostion in the world towards the US and of the connection between Hezbollah, Syria and Iran, but what does that have to do with the Israeli's bombing Lebanese civilians? Unless you want to increase the hatred for Israel in the (Arab) world, this bombing campaign is stupid at the least and perhaps even criminal. I think you hate Arabs and muslims in general and you don't mind if they're killed. In fact you like that. That's why you're reacting the way you do. You don't want a constructive outcome of this current crisis. You just want to see blood. I pity you!

It makes no sense that Israel is trying to kill the Labanese people. With the power of their military, if they wanted to make civilians their targets, they would have killed thousands more. As many labanese civilians have stated in recent interviews, the IDFs air strikes are clearly and surprisingly targeted to specific sites. This is a news flash for the world -- Hezbollah is a terrorist organization. Unfortunately, they place missles ontop of people's houses and bunkers below mosques and their own civilian property. They use ambulances and civilian vehicles as cover for themselves and yet the world wonders why there have been more civilian causulties in Lebanon? Its quite an impressive strategy for Hizballah, as Israel will have to stop going after these terrorists because the rest of the world throws up their arms and transfers the blame to them, all while Hezbollah restocks their artillary and Iran enriches its uranium. Ironically, Israel is the ONLY country to drop leaflets to the same civilians its supposed to be targeting. Can anyone name any other Arab regime (or country for that matter) that has done the same? Certainly not Hezbollah.

In the meantime, they have successfully diverted attention away from the Iranian nuclear crisis and somehow Russia has decided to delay a ban on Iran to stop enrichment. Not only that, you've got North Korea together with Iran with an axe to grind and Chavez in Argentina who loves his Irannian buddy and just accepted 1 billion dollars of fighter jets from Russia. So lets sit back and smoke a peace pipe together with these terrorists. I guess once we wipe the only country fighting extremism in the middle east off the map there will be no more problems left. Oh yeah, except for western civilization and the free world.
