Hey Dave,

Just wanted to report that one of your readers/listeners attended the Los Angeles Rally and really appreciated our Governor's stance toward israel, regardless of his motives, political or otherwise.

Great job covering this war. Let's hope that this is the last one that we have to go through

Cameron,

I can't tell if you are trying to be deliberately misleading, or just don't grasp things. Israel also has been living through terrorist attacks, and did not start fighting Hizbullah like this until ROCKETS were fired at our CITIES. And I don't recall the IRA firing rockets at English cities. It was a hypothetical question, and I don't think you can honestly tell me the British public would not want their government to fight the terrorists hard if England was under attack.

When a nation is at war, it wants to win the war by defeating the enemy.

As for your constant rants about Israel's military action, it is completely justified and aimed at stopping Hizbullah. Infrastructure has been targeted to stop the supply of arms to Hizbullah from Syria and Iran. Civilians are killed because Hizbullah has hidden their fighters, and weapons, amongst them.

"I wonder what the 61% would say if the IRA fired from Ireland rockets at English cities, including London."

The british population lived through IRA terrorist attacks, as well as the london bombings of last year, and still do not favor such an aggressive response. Maybe that tells you Israel is on the outside looking in when it comes to world opinion.

During the IRA attacks no rockets were fired, but bombs were detonated in Ireland and London. However, no INVASIONS were launched, no AIRPORTS were destroyed, and no BRIDGES and ROADS were bombed.

Two different religions with differing political agendas for the same piece of land were battling, and after things got ugly, a POLITICAL solution was worked out.

The major difference between that situation and this one is that the terrorists weren't arabs. And apparently that means they were worthy of being spared the horror of being shelled and bombed for 12 days.

"Have I mentioned how proud I am of my country?"

wow, israel is truly a nation of compassion. giving medical assistance to a woman their soldiers shot IN THE BACK while she was fleeing.

why wasn't she able to escape the war zone sooner? oh, that's right... every major road and bridge she could have used to escape was destroyed, leaving her to risk being bombed again while in a packed convoy of refugees, or gut it out in her home and hope she doesn't get shelled/shot/bombed there (which she was).

Dia duit David,

I am totally for Israel defending itself against ANY terrorists and your government have the whole of my family's and my support in this endevor.

However, I am an Irish/American and take great dissapointment in that you would even think and dare to compair the PIRA to these scum bags.

Do not make comments about things you obviously have no fully truthful information about!

After this ongoing conflict is over, I would be more than willing to educate you on the history and facts of the matter. I will state and educate you on one fact right now. WE were and have never been terrorists.

Slan go foil,

Rick

Does anyone have any comments about this? From a blog on the washington post.

I haven't seen pictures of Hezballah equipment in mosques so I won't comment on that, but once again Israel is invading Lebanon. If the US is invaded by a superior army, I'm sure we would use any means possible to defend our country.

I think it is clear that Israel has a policy to hit back hard and hit back at civilians. Today IDF Chief of Staff, Dan Halutz, said that for every missle that hits Haifa, we will knock down 10 buildings in Dahiya (a suburb of Lebanon full of 12 story buildings). They believe that overpowering response will deter future attacks.

On the second day of the Israeli raids on Lebanon they targeted vehicle leaving the village nearest to the area where Hezballah captured the Israeli soldiers (I can't remember the name) and killed twenty people fleeing the village. That was not an accident.

When Britain was fighting against the IRA in the 1980s they would not retaliate against attacks by killing 400 Catholics.

It's utterly depressing but it seems our esteemed Prime Minister has just not understood who we're fighting and why. There's really no explaining statements like this especially during the war. The man's lost it.

Great work Dave, your updates are priceless, by the way is it just me or does it seem like the IDF is taking unnecassary risks in its ground operations. Why are they operating with so few forces, if they brought in overwhelming force they could capture these targets more efficiently. Why capture a target with a small force and then leave immiediatly. Why not capture it, hold it, and then withdraw after several days after you've demonstrated your strength.
