In Case You Were Wondering….
1. No, I did not see Mel Gibson (But I did get to take some pictures of some of the local scenery).
2. I am here for my brother-in-law’s wedding in a few days – and to take a break from it all for a while.
3. I am not very good at taking a break from it all – I am still constantly checking the news and worrying my head over what is going on at home in Israel.
4. I am really perplexed that my 3.5 years of blogging about Israel and the war on terror (including my 4 weeks of liveblogging events in Israel) can mean nothing to some people the minute I take time out of my holiday schedule to post some lighter, fluffier material.

Hey Dave,
From someone who just left Haifa (for a short US detour), you are doing a great job! I read your blog daily, and for those who are judgmental: You just don’t know how it is. That’s all that you can say to those people. They don’t get it. The stress of living in the warzone, losing loved ones, etc… I was there with the bombs and sirens: It’s tough, to say the least, and once you leave, your heart is still there, so you’re glued to the news while your here.
So, as a grateful reader, have fun, enjoy your family and remember… some people will never notice the good you do, but will always be ready to lash out when they see something they don’t like.
ps… shoot, wish you could’ve caught mel!
Aussie Dave, I sincerely hope that you are enjoying your respite from the War. Please relax as much as you can………….
Hi,
Don’t worry about it Dave. I often disagree with you, but I certainly appreciate what you do. We can’t be all war all the time. There is more to living than that. Even soldiers on the front lines joke around for diversion.
Stan
what right these people think they have to demand you post what they want when they want?! It clearly takes you a lot of time and effort to update this blog, and I’m sure that except for a few dumbasses all you readers appreciate that.
Anyway, enjoy your stay.
Hi Dave, no I think people are still probably coming here checking it out. But at the moment there is so much going on in the world, it’s getting very busy. I’ve noticed I’ve dropped my comments just trying to keep up with the news in the blogosphere!
Have a great holiday and rest. That’s what you’re there for. Hope your brother-in-law’s wedding is great.
I don’t know what you mean by your point #4…… Since you have left to the US, there is a SERIOUS void in my daily news routine. Your site has been invaluable in my life, since the day I discovered it (2 years ago). News, humor, podcasts and all. Since you have been gone, I suddenly feel so detached from the mood and events in Israel. I hope you understand the value of your blog. Your blog is TREMENDOUSLY valuable and if there comes a day that you choose to stop blogging about Israel, a sadness will cloud for as long as it may take to recover!
Keep it up Aussie Dave, you are needed in this world, and you are doing the right thing!
Thank you so much.
A dedicated reader.
You need a break! You are totally entitled to blog fluffier things. I could not imagine what it would be like to blog so constantly, by the hour, like you have been doing over the course of the last three weeks. It must truly be exhausting!!!
Your readers patiently wait for your return, in the meantime, I have no problem with you posting light-hearted things.
Enjoy your break!
Hey, I’m pretty impressed that your wife’s family left that California lifestyle for Israel, too! I hope it’s a great wedding and tons of fun! Illigitimus non carborundum and all that. You do a great job and you deserve a break.
Ditto, Adi, to both your comment-pieces. Thank you sincerely for expressing my heart too [though you've got me, on the 2 faithful years
-- one of my grown sons keyed me in here, at the beginning of this current war].

Hey,
I hope you no longer feel down about the smaller traffic. I think you can get disheartened, for instance when you decided to block users of bloglines. We can still read your posts though and all the links work, and there are more than a hundred subscribers. It would be nice to let us back again, I always go to the actual blogs, don’t just read posts against bloglines uniform background. Have a think about it and in the meantime enjoy your hols
