		<description>&quot;When Hizbullah violates the cease-fire, the world will see who the aggressor is and will understand us,&quot; a source close to Olmert said. &quot;We will insist that the agreement be implemented. It&#039;s a good agreement for Israel and Hizbullah&#039;s opposition is proof.&quot;
PM Olmert clearly does not understand the world press. Hizbullah will violate the treaty sure enough, but Israel will be blamed for the transgression.
The UN troops will be the first target though, provided that they ever are put in place. When they are attacked it will be blamed on the US occupation of Iraq or the Israeli occupation of the West Bank or Golan Heights. After they are attacked they will leave again.

<description>While Hezbolla may be one hand of the terror master, lets not forget who is directing it.

<description>Look, I have no idea or regard for any form of &quot;prophesizing&quot; and as for &quot;miracles&quot; - I regard all of that to be irrational nonsense.

A true miracle would have been the rescuing of 6 million Jews. Unfortunately, all that could be heard were their cries as they were brutally destroyed.

As for this issue over &quot;decisive&quot; victory or a feeling of not winning. These are also irrelevant. the only issue is reality.

Have you all or some of you been in the army? Then you will understand that issues like Lebanon are decided not by miracles or anything else, but by human beings having to put fear aside and with eyes open and minds alert, depending on their training, physically killing and routing the enemy.

It is NOT a game, it is NOT a joke and it most certainly is not done for anyone to &quot;feel better&quot;.

If the same can be achieved diplomatically, such as the implentation of 1559, the I am all for it. War always has to be the last resort, not merely another option.

Every Israeli soldier hurt or killed feels pain or has their life cut short.

Israel&#039;s objectives, which are themselves objective, are to stop Hezballah and allow the North to return to their lives.

Zahal has achieved a lot in exceptionally difficult terrain. It is not the Sinai where the enemy is easily visible and copnventional tactics may be employed.

The military tactics used have been devised literally in the field over the past few weeks.

Hezballah has been pushed back, their capability has been significantly wrecked, they have suffered many casualties and they have lost significant territory.

Given the threat that held over Israel for six years, Israel has changed this situation now and engineered the issue to the point that the UN has taken on responsiblity.

Now this, no matter how you view it, is beneficial to Israel. Olmert knew exactly what he doing. This is like chess not checkers.

He was picked by Arik, and that ought to count for some understanding and I think that given that only the US sided with Israel, he has done well and Israel ought to be proud its effort against Hezballah.

<description>Unfortunately, I can see the truth in this statement. Many people think that if Israel would just disappear, the Middle East would settle down to happy families. How many of them there are is the question.
But more optimistically, with the introduction of the blogosphere, your supporters are able to counter the anti-Israeli propaganda very effectively. We are frustrating them, they&#039;re getting hysterical; this is a good sign, truth doesn&#039;t need hysterics just simple statements.
Israel is definitely the canary in the mine.

<description>Excellent, prescient, and it has never changed. Nor will it ever change. Israel is an embarassment to the Arab world. A success amid the chaos of failure.

<description>I must say that this is a quite pessimistic view expressed in the quote. I, and others hold faith that we will all find peace unidied with the world and not pitted against it.

Jew, Arab, Christian, Hindi, Budist, etc. alike will all live in peace.

		<description>Dave,

I don&#039;t know if you know of the ground campaine begining. It would seem Israel FINALLY has had enough with waiting for a UN solution to the problem and begun to move en force.

I wish them all God&#039;s Speed.

I watched Henry Kissenger on TV and even he said Israel waited too long to move in and Israel MUST... MUST make this a FAST and decisive (victorious) operation now or the whole of the middle east will become unstable, with Israel again facing all of the countries surrounding it, the focal point of their military operations.

I must agree with his assesment. Failure or a slow moving operation will come off as a sign of weakness to them now.

Also, as a &quot;heads up&quot;, I&#039;ve heard Syria is in the process of removing mine fields along it&#039;s borders. Perhaps this is an indication of it&#039;s wish to fight on behalf of the terrorists in Lebenon. I hope not.

I have to laugh at the garbage the UN has so far come up with and how they are running around now, with too little proposals, much too late, trying to stop this. They really need to stop wasting so much paper and time. At the same time, they still spew out the same junk stating how bad Israel is for defending itself. The whole UN operation is a bad joke.

Hope you have a great trip and a good time at the wedding.

Rick

<description>Maybe the rabbi got it from the prophet Zechariah (2500 years ago), see Tanakh:

&quot;Behold, I will make Jerusalem a bowl of reeling for the peoples all around, Judah shall be caught up in the siege upon Jerusalem, when ALL the nations of the earth gather against her. In that day, I will lmake Jerusalem a stone for all the people to lift...In that day I will all but annihilate all the nations that came up against Jerusalem...I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem for war...Then the Lord will come forth and make war on those nations...and Jerusalem shall dwell secure.&quot; (from Zechariah chapters 12 and 14), other prophets also speak of this upcoming day.
