White (Russian) Lies

The Jerusalem Post reports on Russia’s denial of Hizbullah being in possession of their weapons:

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Sunday that Israel had provided no proof that Hizbullah used advanced Russian-produced anti-tank missiles during the recent war.

An Israeli delegation that was in Moscow two weeks ago complained that Hizbullah had been in possession of Russian-made ‘Kornet’ guided missiles. Ivanov dismissed Israel’s claims as “total nonsense” and said they reflected “internal problems in Israeli politics.”

But as these pictures show, Israel clearly captured Russian-made anti-tank missiles, including the AT-3 Sagger:

And the AT-4 Spigot:

There’s your proof, Ivanov.

But is there any proof of Kornets? That is the jist of the JPost’s article and what Russia’s DM seems to be referring to.

Dave, I emailed you a Powerpoint presentation with weapons pics from Lebanon. Did you receive it? Are those all AT3s and AT4s, too (excluding the US TOWs)?

Ofer (my interviewee on the most recent Shire Network News) mentioned Sagers as the old type of missile that Hezb’Allah had before. Now they have much better weapons.

On the other hand, this Russian article clearly states that the Russians deny even the AT3s and AT4s. And the Powerpoint presentation photos clearly show Russian Cyrillic lettering on the casings.
