West Coast Eagles 12:13 (85) def. Sydney Swans 12:12 (84)

My beloved West Coast Eagles have won what is being described as one of the most exciting Australian Rules Football Grand Finals of all time. On the day, they won by a solitary point, after apparently dominating for the first half of the game. I say apparently because I have not yet seen the game (because of the Jewish Sabbath). But I look forward to watching a replay.

Those who are not happy about the result include him, him, and him. As we say in Australia (but not in Israel): sucks to be you.

Now I realize the majority of you – who are not Australian – couldn’t care less. But I’m happy about it, and it’s my blog after all.

Update: How’s this for a coincidence? This is a verse from the weekly Torah potion:

“Like an eagle arousing its nest hovering over its young; he spreads his wings, he takes it, he carries it on his wings.” (32:11)

I think I prefer that West Coast won than Sydney. But what does it really matter anyway, not like Essendon even made it anywhere near the grand final :P

Yeah go West Coast – couldn’t go Sydney cos Hilaly came out on their side (fortunately he didn’t wear his Hezb’Allah knickers on the outside).

You can’t even watch footy on Sabbath? I thought you just weren’t allowed to work.

This is why I’m an atheist. We can watch footy whenever we damn well please.

I wish I believed in a wrathful god though, so I could pray to him to wipe the smirk off Ben Cousins’ face.

Congrats my fiancee is a Saints fan….as you know this wasn’t thier best year. How do you watch replays? We live in Israel also. Only have caught certain rebroadcasts.

It is not a matter of not being allowed to watch the footy. It is not in the spirit of the day, which is to reflect, and spend time with family and friends. And as much as I love my footy, there are more important things in life.

Why do you hate the Eagles so?

A friend taped it. I am also not aware of any replays on tv.

    Sorry about the Saints..
