Dehumanized

Updated (see below)

With the mainstream media neglecting to post any details of today’s Kassam rocket attack victim (G-d forbid they humanize an Israeli victim of palestinian terror, as they do palestinian “militants” killed by the IDF), I’ll pick up the slack.

Faina Slotzker, 57, was killed Wednesday morning after being hit by shrapnel from a rocket that landed in Sderot. Fatima is survived by a husband, Michael, and two children.

The couple immigrated to Israel in 2003 to join their daughter and her husband who made aliyah before them and were already living in Sderot.

Faina and her husband live in the Neve Eshkol neighborhood in town. at the time of the attack, Faina was making her way to the town’s center, while Michael was headed for the local HMO branch. Shortly after they parted, Michael heard the explosion, and later learned that his wife was hurt in the attack.

In addition to killing Faina, the Kassams also seriously wounded Maor Peretz, 24, a security guard at the residence of Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz, who had both of his legs amputated. In addition, a yet-to-be-identified 17-year old boy was seriously injured.

Update: NeoZionoid and Yid With Lid have more on this mainstream media dehumanization of Israeli victims.

Update: The Jerusalem Post adds insult to injury by mistakenly calling Faina ‘Fatima’ – an Islamic female name.

Update: The Jerusalem Post reports that her name was, in fact, Fatima, and she was a Muslim married to a Jewish man. Included in the report is this interesting bit of information:

..a delegation of Moslem Knesset members showed up to pay their respects as Slutsker was laid to rest.

I do not recall reports of Muslim Knesset members paying their respects to Jewish victims of terror. It might be that it wasn’t reported, or it might be that it didn’t happen. Just some food for thought.

May she rest in peace. And may the many misspellings of her first and family name not anguish her relatives and friends too much.

I was at the funeral yesterday, and, needless to say, it was crawling with media. I turned to a friend and commented that I’m not sure what was more sad: the way the media ignored the Sloutsker family when there were politicians around, or the way they hounded the family for pictures when they were trying to bury a family member, not just an icon and symbol.

The news reports seem completely inaccurate given this post here from someone who was at the funeral.

Perhaps they mistook that post, from an Israeli Jew using an Arab moniker, as muslims visiting.

lets wait for a “pacifist” march in the “pacifist” tel aviv condemning the situation in Sderot after the withdrawal

lets see how Shalom Akhsav go to Sderot taking photos as they do with those “ugly and fanatic” hill top settlers

the israeli press, all withdrawal supporters, once again revolting
