Israeli News Briefs

  • It doesn’t take a genius: Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, currently visiting Israel, has noticed a marked deterioration in the situation in the Middle East since he last visited in 1990.
  • Amir Peretz has expressed the hope that “soon is the day that people will realize what an asset it is to have a socially-aware defense minister.” I think we realize this already; hence the calls to get rid of him. I will admit, though, that he got the letters right..he’s certainly a SAD minister.
  • Palestinian/Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has warned that early elections would lead to chaos. Which would make a change from the current situation of..err..chaos.
  • Meanwhile, Hamas is promising to “dress up” Bethlehem for Christmas. No word yet on whether this involves a Hijab and suicide bomb belt.
  • Shocking: Kosher power!
