A Sad Individual

The Jerusalem Post reports on recently retired UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s “sadness.”

Outgoing United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan expressed great sadness on Friday that he couldn’t help resolve the Israel-Palestinian conflict during his term of office.

“It is with great personal sadness that I leave office with the (Israeli) occupation now in its 40th year,” he said in a message to a UN-backed conference on Palestine on Friday.

So-called occupation: sadness-inducing.
Innocent Israelis being killed by terrorists: ………

Goodbye to bad rubbish.

Amen! Kofi Annan is as corrupt as the rest. Not a whole lot different from Yassar Arafat in my opinion. Just a snake of a different color.

he’s really sad over the fact that he couldn’t drive the jews into the sea as his arab overlords wanted him to. i’d be sad, as well. poor dear.

But I was surprised that in his departure speech, he said a couple classy things in allusion to Israel:
“The two-state solution – Israel and Palestine – must respect the rights of the Palestinian refugees, but only within the context of preserving the character of states in the region.” i.e. drop the ‘right of return’
“Some may feel satisfaction at repeatedly passing General Assembly resolutions or holding conferences that condemn Israel’s behavior. But one should also ask whether such steps bring any tangible relief or benefit to the Palestinians.” i.e. stop turning the GA into a forum for bashing one country and undermining the legitimacy of the UN
He said these resolutions strengthen Israel’s belief “that this great organization is too one-sided to be allowed a significant role in the Middle East peace process.”
    And finally
“Even worse, some of the rhetoric used in connection with the issue implies a refusal to concede the very legitimacy of Israel’s existence, let alone the validity of its security concerns,” Annan said. “What was done to Jews and others by the Nazis remains an undeniable tragedy, unique in human history.”
