<description>One thing we have to keep in mind is that these people lost their daughter. They are acting as grief stricken parents. I think some leeway is called for here when we hear their comments, which are not completely rational.

<description>Thank you. The quotations in the wikipedia entry, sure do accurately capture his firm gentleness of spirit. :) I shall keep seeking for "the truth" about Biram....

		<description>Hi,

Elias Chacour:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elias_Chacour

http://www.amazon.com/Blood-Brothers-Elias-Chacour/dp/0800790960

http://www.answers.com/topic/elias-chacour

http://lluker.faculty.ltss.edu/Elias_Chacour.htm

From what I understand, much of his book has been debunked. I didn't find any of that on the Internet though.

I sure wish that his ideas about nonviolent protest has taken hold instead of those of HAMAS, the PLO and FATAH.

Shalom,

Maksim-Smelchak.

<description>Sir.....having come newly to an awareness of that corner of the world's agonized drama, far more deeply aware than in the years I spent working on my Dad's newspaper during the war in Vietnam and afterwards........even a study of history, recent and old history, of the area, leaves me hanging with questions I cannot find anyone who is able to answer. Trying you, for one of them. :)

Have you ever heard of Elias Chacour? Several years ago a friend gave me an old book, “Blood Brothers”, by that man.......and, being a voracious reader, I read it and filed it away in my memory............during the Israel / Lebanon war of this past summer, it fought its way forward and has caused such troubling confusion with what I have learned since this summer’s war.......

I have tried to contact him, but he has not responded....and I can find no one who knows how to answer my questions........Ibilin in Israel...he has a school there...for Arabs, Jews, and Christians.....he chronicles the coming in of the Jews...he was a child at the time -- in Biram. Do you know of the history of that time, of Biram? And of its story since then? Was it as he says it was? I know I have to be missing something.....

Thank you. I appreciate your presence here.
