    I thought the same thing as everyone else, but an army friend pointed out that Peretz is simply holding night-vision goggles that use a lens-cap-resembling filter for daylight usage.

    As a former soldier, I can verify that those are NOT night-vision goggles. (Why would he use night-vision in the day?)

    Anyhow the photo and ridicule of Peretz was all over the Israeli press including JPost online.

    Ma’ariv daily labeled its picture, “Seeing black.”

    Newspaper Yediot Aharonot softened the blow by also showing pictures of other leaders looking through capped binoculars US President George W. Bush and former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
