Remember Ariel Sharon?

Israel’s Channel 10 has apparently reported that the condition of Ariel Sharon – who has been in a coma for over two years – has improved slightly.

Disclaimer: I did not see the report myself, but rather via this Canadian news site, which reports:

An Israeli TV station is reporting a slight improvement in former prime minister Ariel Sharon’s condition.

The hospital is refusing to comment.

Israel’s Channel 10 TV says there has been a change in Sharon’s condition, although he remains comatose.

Spokesman David Weinberg says the medical centre would not comment on the report, adding that the hospital’s policy is to make public any changes in Sharon’s condition.

If this is true, it would seem that the Israeli news sites – none of which are reporting this – are themselves comatose.

Update: The story has also been picked up by the palestinian Ma’an News Agency, who have this additional snippet:

The TV report said that Ariel Sharon’s son, Omri, reported that his father’s condition is improving and that he was able to answer some questions by moving his hand.

Update: My mistake…the Jerusalem Post did report this last night, but seems to have gotten their information from the Associated Press.

Did any of my Israeli-based readers see the report firsthand?

Ariel Sharon has been in a coma for a year and three months, not over two years.

Is there any moral lesson in continuing comatoze of our Ariel Sharon? Is he going to preserved in Comatose just like Ramsis II’s (Farowa during the time of prophet Moses) deadbody has been preserved by God for posterity’s lessons. I am not sure if his soul and body would be undergoing for excruciating pain which he is not able even to articulate..? So pitiful though deserving from moral perspective..
