Blogging the Conflict: May 26th-27th, 2007
The breaking news is that 2 palestinian terrorists have shot 4 Israeli security guards in East Jerusalem. The guards have reportedly sustained moderate to severe injuries in the attack, while the gunmen have been shot dead. The al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – the military wing of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party – has claimed responsibility.

Quote of the Day
“You get the usual assortment of stormtroopers running around. I imagine its pretty uncomfortable to sit for 17 hours encased
in plastic.”
- Jonathan Zaleski, spokeman for the Star Wars marathon, a free showing of all six Star Wars movies at the Los Angeles Convention Centre, to celebrate the movie franchise’s 30th (wow!) anniversary.
Update: Reminds me of [...]
Blogging the Conflict: May 25th, 2007
The terrorists have resumed where they left off yesterday, already firing at least 5 Qassams into Israel today. While there have been no injuries, one of the Qassams started a fire in a wheat field near Sderot.
Meanwhile, the IAF targeted 2 Hamas positions this morning, one in Gaza City and the second in central Gaza, [...]

Let’s see what I missed while celebrating the Jewish festival of Shavuot…..looks like it was a relatively quiet day on the rocket front. One Qassam landed near Sderot this morning, while many Sderot residents were attending Shavuot prayer services at the local synagogues. Then fast forward to earlier this evening, when 4 Qassams hit Israel. [...]

Since my last update, “only” 3 Qassams have been fired at Israel. Perhaps another sign that our air strikes are having a palpable effect is the offer by Hamas that the Palestinian unity government will get all the Palestinian factions to heed a general cease-fire if Israel agrees to a temporary cease-fire in the West Bank. Of course, it was [...]

Another day, another barrage of Qassams. Already this morning, palestinian terrorists have fired 4 Qassams into Israel, with no injuries or damage being reported.
Meanwhile, Army radio has reported that the Israeli forces in the area of the Gaza Strip have been instructed to raise their alertness level for fear that terror organizations may attempt [...]
The Lying Game
Aide to palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Saeb Erekat, tries to win over public opinion using his old trick.
“Look into my eyes..yeah, just like that. Now repeat after me. Zionist aggression. Israeli massacres. Apartheid. Drinking blood of palestinian children…”
Of course, such a ploy only works on the weak minded.
“What nice eyes Saeb has.”

Looks like the Sabbath brought no respite for Sderot residents, who have been the target of 7 rockets today…so far. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Despite the rocket barrages, most Sderot residents have remained in the city (approximately 20,000 out of 23,000 people).
The only Israeli injuries today came after a Hamas anti-tank missile [...]
Qassam Attack: May 18th, 2007
The attacks on Israel continue, starting off with a barrage of at least 3 rockets that landed in Sderot at around midnight. One of the rockets hit a synagogue just minutes after the end of a celebration, resulting in a number of people suffering from shock. Another of the rockets landed near a strategic facility [...]
George’s Best Friend
US President George Bush has had some nice words for outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The president praised Blair, calling him extremely effective as a leader and “dogged” when he gets on a subject. “I appreciate the fact that he can see beyond the horizon. And that’s the kind of leadership the world needs,” Bush [...]
