That picture of elected officials reminds me of a burning question:

What do Israelis think of electoral reform to a system where MKs are responsible for a constituency?

I always thought that the objective of the current electoral process is to get higher up the party list, which means loyalty to the party-room bosses, rather than to the electorate. That disconnect is felt by ordinary voters.

Having a constituency means more accountability to individuals.

This system works well in the US and Australia – and the constituency house (Representatives) is always held in higher esteem than the party-list house (Senate).

    What do others think?

I’m not sure how much it helps to know the name of the person in parliament responsible for one’s area, but it has to be better than the nebulous list system.

The system for choosing local candidates is still up for problems but its probably a lot better than the list systems of PR.

But saying that for years they talked about doing away with our system in the UK and making it more PR because the Conservatives kept winning. Now we have years of Labour and everyone is getting itchy again.

Doesn’t matter though, we’ll soon have a demographic shift and all be living under Sharia (I’ll have left before this happens, so accelerating the UK’s demise.)

No witty reportage or insightful commentary for you this day, AussieDave? Are you taking a Zionist Death Holiday or something? Well, I suppose you deserve a bit of rest from the rigors of subjugating and oppressing those poor rosy-cheeked Palestinians. Alas, the only one I can oppress here in Iowa is the odd Minnesotan you come across now and again.

Be well my fellow traveller. Together we will rule the blogosphere.
