So they turned off the water and the electricity? Good move … and yet another reason to own a T-shirt that says “everything I need to know about the middle east I learned from reading Leon Uris’ The Haj over 20 years ago and its still true”. Of course that would be an XXL size shirt, but this move is straight out of that book, just on a slightly larger scale.

Of course they won’t stop firing, even though the attacks are virtually useless: firing on schoolhouses from a safe distance is the closest they will ever come to feeling like men.

On a related note, virginity is only important to men who are afraid of comparison…

Discussing the Old Testament with my friend’s son, who had to cover Moses’ story for homework, I saw afresh that Jews were slaves under Pharoah in the middle east centuries ago. Slaves whose Exodus is marked annually in the Passover ceremony. Indeed, the whole story is the Book of Exodus Chapter 2.

It seems unfair that this piece of Judeo-Christian history serves to prove that we have been in middle east and that this presence more recently was re-established by the UN in 1848 is never brought to light.

Besides, we don’t use suicide bombers – the Muslims do. And a pugnacious lot they are. But it couldn’t be that seven virgins promise suicide bombers get ignites as many of these terribly handsome (duh!)suicide bombers to do the anti Judeo-Chritain thing.
