The Israel Initiative
I have just noticed the website of the Israel Initiative, headed by Israeli MK Benny Elon.
In short, the Israel Initiative is a plan based on the following core principles:
- Striving for a humanitarian solution to the Palestinian problem, instead of a political one.
- Basing peace on strategic cooperation with Jordan, instead of with the Palestinian Authority.
- Extending Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, instead of handing over these parts of the country for a Palestinian State.
I still need to investigate the details of the initiative in more depth, but from what I’ve read so far, it definitely has merit. I recommend you all go to the site and read the plan for yourself. Perhaps we can get a good discussion going in the comments.
Update: One other interesting point: Ynet reports that the cinematic trailer serving as a tool for marketing the plan is “starring in the list of the most popular video clips on YouTube just a few days after its release.”

Even in their first statement, “A humanitarian solution to the refugee problem”, I already find a huge obstacle. The plan is to resolve the humanitarian crisis by finding countries who would accept immigration by the Palestinian refugees.
Of course they couldn’t name any country that would fit this criteria. Why? Because there is none.
The Arab nations don’t care about the Palestinians and those who allow them in keep them in a limbo, without granting them citizenship. Other countries in the gulf only issue work permits, without allowing families who are left behind. Europe? They are currently struggling with a number of immigration-related problems and European immigration laws tend to be more and more xenophobic.
It’s a sad fact: The Palestinians need a state because nobody wants them.
These phonies already have a state. Jordan.
Kingy in the way? They know what to do.
