It isn’t unusual for colonists to continue the customs of their homelands: for example, the Europeans in Australia did not adopt the customs and traditions of the natives. The Pakistani colonists in Britain will not willingly adopt UK law and customs, especially not while they still have close family ties to their home country.

Perhaps these sentences will make the more conservative Pakistanis hesitate before moving to Britain, or if they are here, consider moving back home.

Not that I would wish these brutal misogynists on the local women in Pakistan either.

(Wife-beating is not uncommon among English families, too. But I don’t think it has ever been fully accepted by English societies, except perhaps in parts of the North.)
