In an interview published on the rabidly anti-Israel Palestine Media Center site, Rachel Corrie’s parents tackle a number of issues including the following:

On claims that the home that Rachel was defending belonged to terrorists:

CINDY: There are people in this room besides us who have spent time with the family that lived in that home. Craig and I went to that house while it was still standing, in 2003. We met all those family members. There were two brothers who lived in the house: a pharmacist and an accountant. They had five young children. Some of them came to the United States in 2005 and travelled with Craig and I and spoke around the country.

But as the Egyptian security forces can now attest, the Corrie’s response means absolutely nothing.

Egyptian security forces are combing the area of Rafah for tunnels that could be used for the smuggling of weapons and goods, the London-Based Al-Sharq al Awsat daily reported.

According to Egyptian sources quoted by the report, since breaching the border with Egypt, Palestinians have dug new smuggling tunnels.

“We have information corroborating that Palestinian smugglers have resumed smuggling after exploiting [the breach in the border] in recent days to maintain the tunnels and prevent their collapse,” the Egyptian security official told the paper.

According to the report, in December 2007 and January 2008 Egyptian security forces uncovered 11 tunnels that were 1,200 meters long and 17 meters deep.

Egyptian security forces were successful in garnering accurate intelligence on Egyptians who were assisting the Palestinian smugglers by allowing them to dig the tunnel entrances in their homes, the report quoted the officials as saying. “It is hard to uncover tunnels that are located inside houses in Egyptian Rafah and lead to Palestinian Rafah because they are hidden inside closets, kitchens and even bathrooms.”

So unless the Corries entered the family’s closet, they cannot be sure their daughter was not defending terrorists.
