Not Right
Israeli police detain a right wing activist during a protest, calling for the government to take action against rockets fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza, in Jerusalem February 11, 2008. Israeli leaders vowed on Monday to step up their war against Hamas and predicted the Islamists’ grip on the Gaza Strip would end within months. REUTERS/Ronen Zvulun (JERUSALEM)
For the record, those protesting were Sderot residents and anyone else fed up with rockets raining down on Israel. This is not a right-wing/left-wing issue. And if you don’t believe me, I’ll remind you of this report from August last year (which I mentioned in this podcast).
How the Reuters caption writer decided this was a “right wing” protester is beyond me. If it was because the protester wore a kippa (skullcap) and tzizit (fringes) and generally looked like an observant Jew (which is not clear from the photo), the Reuters caption writer had no business extrapolating his supposed right-wing credentials.

As a left winger I take offense to that as well. I just spent a month in Sderot and I fully support the protesters cause. Is the caption designed to say that left wing people accept terrorism?Rocket fire aimed at a city has nothing to with right/left. It has to do with right/wrong.

You are so naive. Anyone who seeks to have Israel defend its citizens is right wing. By definition.
Stan, you don’t know it but you’ve taken a walk on the wild side.
