I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised. But given this guy was on the level of Bin Laden…

Come on, Aussie Dave. Get real. AP was probabaly Photoshopping for this guy in 2006. I’ll bet they thought even “militant” was too strong a term.
i have another funky screenshot to share with you, dave.

I can’t be bothered digging it up but didn’t AP previously refer to Bin Laden or Zarqawi as ‘militants’?
From Debbie Schlussel:
Our friends, the Saudis.
I’m sure neutral, objective journalist Zeina Karam’s first draft read “Resistance Leader Killed”, but then she decided it would blow her cover.
It seems that there has been a consensus emerging in the MSM media to use the word “militants,” as opposed to the more loaded “terrorists.” I noted the term “militants” used unceasingly in the New York Times, and have since since it everywhere. I guess they don’t want to make any judgments or to be seen taking sides, so “militants” was deemed a neutral description. But it is such a week word. It seems to imply someone who marches in demonstrations and hands out leaflets. Somehow, I cannot see Nasrallah or a suicide bomber as a militant.
