Sharia vs. The Teapot
A Malaysian woman has been jailed for two years for belonging to a cult that worships a giant tea pot.

Kamariah Ali, a 57 year old former teacher, was arrested in 2005 when the government of the Muslim majority country demolished the two storey high sacred tea pot and other infrastructure of the “heretical” Sky Kingdom cult.
For the eccentric sect, which emphasised ecumenical dialogue between religions, the tea pot symbolized the purity of water and “love pouring from heaven”.
But in Malaysia, despite constitutional guarantees of freedom of worship, born Muslims such as Mrs Ali are forbidden from converting to other religions.
Passing sentence, the Sharia judge Mohammed Abdullah said: “The court is not convinced that the accused has repented and is willing to abandon any teachings contrary to Islam. I pray God will open the doors of your heart, Kamariah.”
Mrs Ali has already been jailed once for apostasy, for 20 months in 1992.
“This has to stop. They can’t be sending her again and again to prison for this,” her lawyer, Sa’adiah Din, told reporters.
“She informed the court that she is not a Muslim. She doesn’t come under Sharia court anymore.”

Born in the mid ‘80’s, the community grew outside state control until 1998, when its followers set up a Disneyland style games park – with buildings in the form of umbrellas, colourful boats, Greek and roman columns – at the centre of which they placed a gigantic teapot and equally massive blue vase. By this means they began proselytising among villagers and foreigners.
In August of 2005, Islamic fundamentalists destroyed their deity and the structures where they gathered.
Can’t we all discuss this civilly over a cup of…oh, sorry, didn’t mean to offend.

and this woman should just be freed. Maybe she’s just insane or maybe smart and is the tea pot actually the Malaysian “spaghetti monster”.

Samantha Power is the author of a Pulitzer Prize-winning book on genocide, and she has a professorship at Harvard (in something called “Global Leadership and Public Policy”). She is also a senior foreign policy adviser to Barack Obama. This isn’t an honorific: she has worked for Obama in Washington, she has campaigned for him around the country, and she doesn’t hesitate to speak for him. This morning, the Washington Post has a piece on Obama’s foreign policy team, identifying her (and retired Maj. Gen. Scott Garion) as “closest to Obama, part of a group-within-the-group that he regularly turns to for advice.” Power and Garion “retain unlimited access to Obama.” This morning’s New York Times announces that Power has an “irresistable profile” and “she could very well end up in [Obama’s] cabinet.”
So she’s got academic creds, and she’s got the ear of the Boss Man. Now for her ideas on foreign policy, specifically in the Middle East:
What we don’t need is some kind of early warning mechanism there, what we need is a willingness to put something on the line in helping the situation. Putting something on the line might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import; it may more crucially mean sacrificing—or investing, I think, more than sacrificing—billions of dollars, not in servicing Israel’s military, but actually investing in the new state of Palestine, in investing the billions of dollars it would probably take, also, to support what will have to be a mammoth protection force… a meaningful military presence.
So this raving lunatic wants to spend billions to beef up the Palestinian Armed Forces?????
Words fail me.
To paraphrase some smart guy: that idea is so stupid, so patently ridiculous, that it could only have come from an academic.
After this, if any American male Jew votes for Obama, he deserves to have his foreskin sewn back on, without an anesthetic. Female Jews voting for Obama deserve to get exiled to Saudi Arabia. Or Gaza.
