Nonchalant Fear

A Palestinian girl pulls another girl inside a shop as masked Israeli border police search an adjacent house in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, Tuesday March 11, 2008. Israeli police are holding the body of the Palestinian gunman from Jabel Mukaber who killed eight high school students at a Jerusalem seminary last week, until his family agrees to hold a low-key funeral without media coverage, a police spokesman said. The implication is that the girls are frightened of the menacing, masked Israeli border policeman.

The thing is, there is no evidence from the photo that the one girl is pulling the other girl in to the shop. In fact, it seems like they are looking on curiously, and do not seem the least bit afraid.

I would say the only thing being pulled here is our collective leg.

Excellent observation, Dave! Did you also catch Israel’s inept attempt at public relations from the same caption, by the way? If you missed it, I’ve got the skinny over here! ;)

Those probably aren’t even “palestinian” girls !!

Why would “masked” scare them? Aren’t they used to “masked” men?
