shy guy - hi! I read both the speeches - PM Rudd & Leader of the Opposition Brendan Nelson. Both are still hypnotised by the ‘2-state solution’ (& since they were looking back to the Partition vote of 1947, that’s not surprising). I emailed them both & will follow up with letters. What I said & will say? - praise for the simple fact that they congratulated Israel at all (this has got them plenty of flak from the Useful Idiots); and suggestions for Further Reading to help them grasp that the idea of Partition & the present-day ‘Peace Process’ both shipwreck/ed on 2 horrid facts a. that the Arab/Muslim war against Israel is JIHAD and b. that Muslim sham ‘treaties’ with Infidels aren’t worth the paper they’re written on, see Treaty of Hudaybiyya. Call me an optimist but i think they’re both educable. I’ll keep trying, anyway.

The motion read more like an apologia for “Palestine” than a motion on the 60th anniversary of Israeli independence. 95% of the motion is devoted to equivocating Australia’s friendship with the “two state solution”. With “friends” like these who needs enemies?

It makes me proud to be Australian when the government shows Israel such support, where other world governments simply ignore the facts with their Israel bashing attitudes and make peace an even harder goal to reach.
