As an American, concerned about the future of my country, I have 2 comments to the post and the comments following. First- I have said and deeply believe that Israel is but the point on this war. What happens to Israel WILL follow to other countries, especially my beloved United States. America must not leave the side of Israel, must not!
As for John McCain; he was not my choice for a president, but given the way it is today, I must say: "I love my country more than I dislike McCain.".
And, to "dj", an obvious uneducated liberal- The congress of the United States controls the purse strings. Not the President. And as to Katrina- The Bush government told the citizens 6 days ahead of time that there was a very bad storm coming. That they chose not to leave, but rather to wait to loot their neighbors homes was not the fault of George W. Bush! Must your sort always not let the facts interfere with your stories?

Honestly, it's going to be McCain versus Obama in November. That's really who your two options are going to be.

Now go on over and take a look at Obama's stance on Israel. Two states at any cost. Negotiate with any and all parties, despite their mission (i.e. - Hamas and destroying Israel). Divide Jerusalem.

I don't know if McCain is going to change anything, but maybe we don't want the change that Obama would bring!

Huckabee has NO chance of winning anything in a national election. He is a fringe candidate who would be obliterated by either Hillary or Obama

Nah, not GHWB lite, but GHWB on steroids. Eh, is he the best of the bad choices? I don't think so. My hope is that he takes himself out of the race or gets disqualified and a different Republican candidate (preferably Huckabee) steps up to the plate.

McCain. GHWB lite. We haven't had a real candidate run for president since Reagan. McCain's been in office so long, he has no idea what reality is. If he listens one bit to Baker, yikes.

I'm sorry, but we have had 8 years of an idiot who was (supposedly) great for Israel, but pretty much destroyed everything else. We are now heading into a new administration with a huge national debt, stuck in a senseless civil war in Iraq, we now all get treated like terrorists when we fly by our incompetent Dept of Homeland Security, we abandoned our own citizens in New Orleans (imagine this happening in Israel), the government spies on its own people, while the economy is shrinking the government is now larger than it has ever been, our military is in the worst shape it has been in ever, "nation building" is now an acceptable practice (even though when Clinton did it he was vilified), the economy is falling to pieces, gas prices are at an all time high while the oil companies post billion dollar profits each quarter, no bid contracts for $100s of millions to Bush friends are commonplace and Bush's friends are all much richer now than they were before. Bush is not the conservative he claims to be and McCain is now following his lead on all these issues.

I think this country has had enough of the neocon agenda for a while. If the McCain of 2000 was running now I might be able to support him, but since he has decided to fall in lock step with Bush and his idiotic policies I can assure you that this country will not support him in Nov.
You complain about the Israeli govt...... you should look at what we put up with here.
