It’s not a sling-shot, technically it’s just a sling or a ‘shepherds sling’.
Clearly whatever is in the pouch is closer to the camera so it is quite difficult to tell how big it is.
Plus the wide-angle lense.
To their rock throwing mentality, that is an Artillery piece. Updated from their 7th century thinking.
