Hmm, although I have to admit that the similarity is uncanny, you have to remember that Darth Sidious was able to erect an intergalactic scheme to sieze control of the univers under the nose of beings that can detect an individual’s emotional level just by the temperature of their body (not to mention overt mind-reading and manipulation). If anything, I think that this quote from Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood would be the best description of the Carter/Sidious relationship:
“You’re just the afterbirth that slithered out on your mother’s filth. They should’ve put you in a glass jar and stuck you up on a mantle…”
